Jeremy Knowlton
Executive Director
Jeremy received his BS degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014. After graduating college he worked two years for the Appalachian Mountain Club’s A Mountain Classroom and Teen Wilderness adventures, where he led school groups on educational trips focusing on topics such as Geology, Ecology, and Leadership. Jeremy launched WMSI's Mobile STEM Lab back in 2016, growing the program to visit more than 30 schools in northern New England. More recently, Jeremy has taken the role of managing WMSI’s professional development programs, working with teachers and schools all around New Hampshire on topics Computer Science, Engineering, and inquiry-based learning. Jeremy is passionate about education and empowering students to learn and explore using creative methods. During his off time he enjoys trail running, backpacking, and rock climbing all around the world.

Amanda Carron
Director of Programs
As Amanda likes to say, she makes sure that WMSI’s instructors are “at the right place, at the right time, with the right tools!” Amanda joined the team in 2020, and feels passionate about ensuring WMSI’s mission. Outside of WMSI, Amanda enjoys all forms of photosynthesizing in the sunshine including hiking, swimming, XC skiing, and snowboarding. She’s also been known to love reading, spend time with cats, send postcards, and perform in community theatre.
Amanda has a BS in Movement Science, Sport, and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Wilderness Leadership, and a minor in Environmental Science from Westfield State University; and a MS in Natural Resources with a certificate in Environmental Education from the University of Idaho and McCall Outdoor Science School.

Gal Potashnick
Director of Outreach
In her role as Outreach Director, Gal continues to pursue her passion for connecting people and networks to strengthen communities. Though she’s new to the education sector, she brings fresh eyes and enthusiasm to WMSI and is excited to help create opportunities for life-long learners to thrive. With nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit management and community engagement, Gal has successfully spearheaded various outreach and community-building initiatives in previous roles. She believes that everyone deserves access to opportunities that help explore their creativity and hands-on problem-solving skills. Gal holds a BFA in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is dedicated to building partnerships with schools and other organizations to foster a vibrant STEAM ecosystem in Northern New England.

K Aidan Garriepy
Development/ Marketing
Often found playing with colored pencils, paint & crayons Kayla holds a Bachelor's Degree in Visual and Performing Arts and is currently pursuing a Graduate Degree in Art Therapy. Time in the studio would emphasize that these media did not need to remain a childhood pastime & were transferable to teaching in the community. She stumbled upon the lovely staff at WMSI while working on the Sunflower mural on the 23 Ammonoosuc Building that WMSI calls home- and was quickly excited to join the team!

Emily Stanislawski
Programs Manager
In Emily’s role as Programs Manager, she facilitates both student programming and teacher coaching. Emily also works very closely with FIRST NH to provide support for teachers, coaches, and teams in the North Country. In her free time, Emily loves exploring, reading, trivia, and checking out cool bugs.

Lydia Kresin
Makerspace Education Coordinator
As the Makerspace Education Coordinator at WMSI, Lydia works to expand the makerspace into a vibrant community hub in Littleton while developing workforce development programs for high school students and adults. She has a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Education from Tufts University.
Lydia is passionate about exploring the intersection of sustainability and engineering education, believing that practicing hands-on problem solving skills can empower young learners to tackle real-world challenges.
Outside of WMSI, Lydia enjoys hiking, backpacking, playing music, and exploring new places.

Katherine Grazer
STEM Education Coordinator
After spending several years leading educational programs for the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium Katherine joined the WMSI team as a Program Instructor.
Katherine attended the University of California at Davis and received a Master of Science in Agronomy & Horticulture as well as a Bachelor of Science with a major in Plant Biology and a minor in Technology Management.
In her spare time Katherine enjoys rockhounding, making jewelry, and learning about the plants of the North Country.

Marianne O'loughlin
STEM Education Coordinator
Marianne is a part-time Instructor at WMSI and is excited to share passion for science with the North Country.
Marianne received a B.A. in Environmental Interpretation from the University of Maine and has a passion for teaching and the science of animal behavior. She is also an Associate Certified Dog Behavior Consultant with the IAABC, an international animal behavior organization. She believes all species, from hippos to humans, can learn through collaboration and cooperation.
Before coming to WMSI, Marianne worked with a variety of species as an intern, veterinary assistant, and educator. Now she splits her time between teaching kids at WMSI and teaching pet families as a professional dog trainer.

Eli Moore
Program Instructor/ CS Content Specialist
Eli Moore serves as a STEM Program Instructor & CS Content Specialist at WMSI. He completed his studies in Game Programming at Champlain College in Vermont in 2023, with a focus on video games and general programming. At WMSI, Eli has enjoyed contributing to the community for the past 5 years, participating in and leading various camps, including those focused on Game Design.
His role involves sharing his knowledge and passion for computer science and game development, always with a learning mindset and a humble approach. Eli is enthusiastic about promoting curiosity and a love for learning. He believes in a shared passion for knowledge and is dedicated to encouraging others to find and follow their interests. Outside of work, Eli values his time with friends, tutoring Spanish, and embraces opportunities to learn new things.

Carrie Slife
Program Instructor
As Program Instructor, Carrie leans on her prior experience as a camp counselor to keep things fun, engaging, and kid-centric, while bringing parallels from her years solving design problems to students via STEM. Carrie has a Master of Arts degree in Interior Design from Suffolk University and Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Advertising and Psychology from Penn State University. In her spare time, you can find Carrie hiking, skiing, paddling, and traveling to tropical locales.

Coltrane Stagg
Program Operations Specialist
Coltrane Stagg, WMSI’s Program Operations Specialist, received his associate degree in liberal arts at White Mountain Community College in 2021 and is currently working towards earning his Bachelor’s Degree. During 2019 and 2020, Coltrane was a part of the Tillotson Fund’s Empower Coös Youth Program, voting on grants and helping local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, Coltrane’s prior experience with FIRST Robotics from his time as part of the FIRST Robotics Competition team “Northern Horizons” gave Coltrane experience with a variety of different skills and knowledge related to robotics that he uses both in camp programs and professional development courses at WMSI. Coltrane uses his experience in art and his passion for all things creative to emphasize the creative and artistic aspects of the lessons he helps create and teach.

Maddie Ellms
STEM Program Instructor & Programs Assistant
Maddie started his WMSI journey in 2013 as a student, gradually transitioning into the roles of instructor and content developer. His STEM journey took him to the University of New Hampshire, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree of Zoology studying animal behavior alongside graphic design. He is passionate about using art and design to communicate science to everyone: from academia to students in northern New England.
His hobbies include illustrating and animating casually, riding a bike through the woods, and telling people how cool gulls are.

Sophie Desbiens
Board President
Ph.D. is a consultant to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Prior to starting her business, she worked in commercial strategy and insights roles at Genentech and Alnylam. She received a BS in Neuroscience from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Pharmacology from Boston University. Sophie is originally from Montreal, Canada and now lives in Littleton, NH with her husband. Outside work, she enjoys hiking year-round in the beautiful White Mountains, cooking, and staying active. Sophie’s passion for science started when she first learned about genetics for her 8th grade science fair project and flourished thanks to generous mentors. She is excited to join the WMSI board of directors to support fun and creative STEM access in the North Country.

Sam Talcott
lives in Bethlehem, NH with his wife and daughter. He is passionate about STEM education, having taught middle and high school science and math for 7 years in Massachusetts and New Hampshire before transitioning to his current full-time role as a Data Analyst for TNTP, a national education non-profit.
Sam joined the WMSI board in 2023, and he is excited for the opportunity to use his time and expertise to support WMSI's incredible work in the North Country. In his spare time Sam enjoys running, skiing, cooking, working on DIY home projects, folding origami, baking bread, and spending time with his family

Liza Huntington
attended Dartmouth College for her undergraduate studies and graduated in 2014 with a major in Biology and a minor in Earth Sciences. Inspired by the excellent teachers she had through her years at Bethlehem Elementary and Profile, she decided to pursue a career in education. Liza started teaching during college summers at the Advanced Studies Program at St. Paul’s School, a challenging program for New Hampshire public school students. After college she taught in New York City for two years, then relocated to Boston and has been teaching middle school science at the Community Charter School of Cambridge for the last 8 years. She received a Masters in Education from Boston University in 2020. Outside of her work, Liza loves doing anything outdoors with her family, even if it means hiking at the pace of a two year old.

Amy Lawton
is the Library / Media Teacher at Monroe Consolidated School. She graduated from UNH with a double major in History and English, received her Master's of Arts in Teaching from Brown University, and her Library/Media certification from Plymouth State. Before coming to Monroe, Amy taught high school English for many years. She is also an occasional writer. Amy lives in Easton with her husband and two children, Wyatt and Isabel, who are students at Profile. When she isn't reading, teaching, or cooking for her family (which she loves doing!),
