Carrie Slife

Carrie brings to WMSI a diverse educational background, love of working with children, and passion for creative problem solving. She moved to the White Mountains four years ago from Boston, MA, where she practiced architectural lighting design. Seeking a less-urban existence, one of Carrie’s first jobs after arriving in the north country was teaching ski school at Bretton Woods Ski Resort. She then spent several seasons working atop Mount Washington for Mount Washington Observatory and New Hampshire State Parks (and fulfilling her dream of living above treeline and commuting via snowcat!), but eventually decided that kids really do have more fun and decided to pursue a path working with them year round.

As Program Instructor, Carrie leans on her prior experience as a babysitter and camp counselor to keep things fun, engaging, and kid-centric, while bringing parallels from her years solving design problems to students via STEM. Carrie has a Master of Arts degree in Interior Design from Suffolk University and Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Advertising and Psychology from Penn State University. In her spare time, you can find Carrie hiking, skiing, paddling, and traveling to tropical locales.
